Deep Creek Lake is an exceptional place to spend the winter, with snow on the ground and plenty of exciting activities. A true winter wonderland, Oakland, Maryland, shows off with snow everywhere, including our dazzling Inn at Deep Creek. New Year’s Eve adds to the magic, with friends and family gathered around to toast to the new year. When the clock strikes midnight, we gather together and say goodbye 2019, welcoming 2020 with a champagne toast. The Manor Steakhouse in Oakland is a short 10-minute drive from the Inn and is offering up a New Year to remember.

The Manor Steakhouse

The Manor is an extraordinary place to visit at any time of the year. A fantastic traditional site, the restaurant was built in 1890, and the Manor team works hard to keep the old-fashioned tone and “treat guests like family.” The Manor’s head chef, Jacques Hourtal, has worked all over the world, including international food destinations like London and Geneva. Chef Hourtal works tirelessly to craft trademark dishes, and The Manor writes that he “has never been more excited about them.”

With a marvelous special menu for December 31st, live music, and an outstanding atmosphere, you won’t want to miss this holiday bash. Check out some of these mouth-watering menu items:

  • Appetizers like drunken mushrooms and crab dip
  • Delicious soups like crab and lobster bisque
  • Entrees range from delightful filet mignon to twin 6-ounce lobster tails. So delicious!

The Manor is allowing (and strongly encouraging) reservations for December 31st. Whether you’d rather treat yourself to a tasty dinner before ringing in the new year at home or stay out until the wee hours of January 1st, The Manor will serve you. For those who aren’t interested in a fancy dinner, The Manor is also inviting guests to join them for drinks only. You don’t have to eat dinner at The Manor to join the NYE celebration! Pat O’Brennen and Barry Dalton will be entertaining guests with live music from 8:00 PM until midnight. And remember, regardless of when you’d like to arrive, make a reservation and ensure that you’ll have a seat!

Winter at DCL

There is much more to Deep Creek in winter than a delicious New Year’s Eve dinner. Snowsports and activities are throughout the area, and we recommend spending your time exploring all the great stuff around Deep Creek! Wisp Resort has a wide variety of activities for family fun! You can ski and snowboard on the mountain, and rentals are available locally. That means there’s no need to worry if you don’t own any equipment! Mountain passes are affordable and well worth the money to enjoy days of fresh snow. Additionally, you can enjoy snow-tubing, a mountain-coaster (yep, you read that right!), and more.

Don’t forget that the Deep Creek Lake area is well known for local hikes and nature, and we highly recommend exploring the outdoors here. DCL is very pet-friendly, as is our boutique hotel, but keep in mind that there might be some snow on the ground during your visit. Make sure your furry friend is okay with walking in the snow if you do plan on bringing them along for your outdoor excursions. Downtown Oakland, Maryland, is a few minutes from the Inn at Deep Creek. There you’ll find lots of charming boutiques, antique shops, local eateries and more.

We sincerely hope to see you on your visit to Western Maryland. The Inn at Deep Creek is proud to be in such a stunning location, especially around New Year’s Eve! The Manor Steakhouse is offering a memorable New Years’ experience. Treat yourself to delicious food, live music, and a champagne toast at midnight as the ball drops. There’s no better way to ring in the new year!
