The Honi-Honi Bar is hosting its annual Christmas tree lighting on November 30th in Garrett County.
This November, celebrate at Deep Creek Lake. With fun activities, great weather, and opportunities to make memories around every corner, now is a great time to visit. While many people are already in the Christmas mindset, the Honi-Honi Bar (minutes from the Inn at Deep Creek) is waiting until after Thanksgiving to kick it off officially. Their annual Christmas tree lighting is on Saturday, November 30th.
The Best Bar in Town
The Honi-Honi Bar is attached to Uno, and both establishments are Deep Creek area favorites. Well known in the area for live music and a fantastic outdoor setting with a fire-pit for the colder seasons, the Honi-Honi is packed year-round. In November, patrons can expect to hear live and local music from over five different musicians and bands. On November 29th, the night before the Christmas tree lighting, a trio from Morgantown, West Virginia called 18 Strings will be performing for patrons. They describe themselves as “a variety of genres and styles which can only be generalized as ‘acoustic.’” Their performance is a great way to set the tone for the Christmas tree lighting and get you in the holiday spirit.
Bringing Christmas to Garrett County
Honi-Honi’s Christmas tree lighting is a tradition in Garrett County and an excellent way to symbolize the official start to the holiday. With the stress of Black Friday the day before, this event is perfect for reminding you what the holiday is about. Starting at 7:00 PM, the ceremony at the Honi will kick-off with hot cocoa and carolers. Of course, the lighting is open to children, but the Honi-Honi bar will also allow pets to join in on the fun! The Inn at Deep Creek is also pet-friendly, so be sure to bring Fido when you join us. With plenty of activities for kids, including a visit from Santa himself, this tradition is enjoyable for the entire family. Winter Fun at Deep Creek Lake
Of course, Oakland, Maryland, is a ski-town, so there is plenty to do in November as snowy season kicks off. The Inn at Deep Creek is a 10-minute drive from Wisp Resort, making it the perfect place to stay for skiers and snowboarders, as well as guests who would enjoy the less traditional snow activities offered at Wisp! With other fun stuff to do, like snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, to snow-tubing and a mountain-coaster, you’re sure to have a great time! If snow sports aren’t your thing, don’t fret.
The Deep Creek area is well-known for its fantastic hiking. Swallow Falls is a great hike for anyone, ending with the beautiful falls. Hikes are weather-dependent, but Garret County, specifically Oakland, has a fantastic array of activities for every kind of traveler. Just across the street is Garrett 8 Cinemas, a wonderful theater with all the newest films for lazy days or date nights. Downtown Oakland has many fun and eclectic stores, including quite a few antique shops. One of our favorites is Englanders, an antique store and diner combo that serves up the best milkshakes in town! Another favorite is the Book Mark’et & Antique Mezzanine, a bookstore that features a loft with unique antiques. It’s the perfect place to pop into on a brisk day in Oakland.
