How old is the Inn at Deep Creek?
The Inn at Deep Creek (formerly named “Alpine Village Inn”) opened in 1961. It was one of the first hotels built at Deep Creek Lake. In 2010, Beachtree Properties, a boutique hotel development and management company, purchased and refurbished the pet and family-friendly inn.

Renovated and renamed, Inn at Deep Creek maintains its original Allegheny Mountains heritage and feel. If you stayed with your family at the original Alpine Village Inn, you’ll love what we’ve done.

Where is Oakland, Maryland?
Oakland is a small, historic town south of Deep Creek Lake. While our hotel’s address is in Oakland, we’re about 10 minutes north of the Oakland Town Center.

Do you have free wireless internet/Wi-Fi?
Yes. However, because we’re located in the Allegheny Mountains, reception comes and goes because of mountain winds and clouds. We do offer a shared computer with internet access and a printer in our lobby.

When is the pool open?
Our seasonal outdoor heated pool is officially open from May to September. However, depending on the weather, we sometimes open it in April – just give us a call and check!

How far away is the lake? Will my room have a lakefront view?
The lake is less than a minute’s walk. The Inn is technically lakeside, as the building sits perpendicular to the lake. Some rooms enjoy views out to the lake, but none are lakefront.

Do you allow pets?
We sure do! However, you need to call ahead. Pet-friendly rooms are limited and book quickly. Check out the pet policy for details.

Does my room have a balcony?
Not necessarily; however, all guests can enjoy pretty views from our shared Observation Deck.

We love to grill, is there a grilling area?
Yes. The Inn at Deep Creek is equipped with gas grills and picnic tables. There are several nearby grocery stores as well.

Is the Inn at Deep Creek close to events and activities?
Our location is ideal. If you drew a circle around the Deep Creek Lake region, we’re right in the center, between Oakland and McHenry. That puts you 10-15 minutes of seven state parks, Wisp and everything else that Deep Creek Lake has to offer – spring, summer, fall and winter.

The Honi-Honi Bar – a family-friendly restaurant/pub that features live music and entertainment – is just a few minutes away, and we’re close to groceries, wine and spirits, restaurants, eateries and creameries.

What are your restaurant and nightlife recommendations?

There are several family-owned restaurants in the area. We’re happy to make recommendations, depending on guest preferences. Just ask our staff – we know the area well and love to help.

We’re bringing children. What are the best places to take them?

Deep Creek Lake is a family-friendly place your kids will love. Seven nearby state parks offer lots of options to hike, bike, see waterfalls, climb rocks and enjoy fun activities for the whole family.

The Discovery Center is an educational center that’s fun for all ages. Hands-on exhibits showcase the area’s natural resources. The 6,000-square-foot facility has educational programs, fossils and more.

In addition to incredible snow skiing, Wisp Resort’s Mountain Coaster, snow tubing and the Flying Squirrel Canopy Tour (for ages 10 and older) are great fun. The Adventure Sports Center has a climbing wall and operates as the world’s only mountaintop whitewater course (open to all levels).

Deep Creek Fun Zone is a child-focused entertainment venue with arcade-style games and a pizzeria. Don’t hesitate to ask us for more information and other ideas!

Is Deep Creek Lake becoming an “Ocean City, Maryland, in the mountains”?
The Deep Creek Lake area has experienced significant development over the past few years, including multi-million dollar lakefront homes and additional shops and restaurants. However, our community has retained its charming, small-town feel. We’re a world away from the crowds of Ocean City, Maryland.

How big is Deep Creek Lake?
The largest freshwater lake in Maryland, Deep Creek Lake is 3,900 acres and offers 69 miles of shoreline.

What is the weather like?
Our temperatures are typically 10-15 degrees cooler than the Baltimore/Washington Metro area. Temperatures average 75 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and 30 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter.

Do cell phones work in the Deep Creek Lake area?
U.S. Cellular is the only cell phone tower in the area. Remember, we’re in the Allegheny Mountains. If you use a different carrier, service will be spotty here at Deep Creek Lake. Many guests seize the opportunity to get away from digital interruptions to reconnect with family, friends and nature. We do offer a shared computer with internet connection, which guests are welcome to use.

Do I need to get a fishing license?
Anyone 16 years and older is required to have a freshwater fishing license in Maryland. You can purchase a license directly from Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) or at several local shops – including Bill’s Marina. For more information, visit the DNR website.
