What makes the Deep Creek area a unique vacation destination?

If you’re looking for summer fun like boating, water skiing, swimming or fishing, you will find it all in the waters of Deep Creek Lake. If you want to view some amazing fall foliage, Garrett County’s Autumn Glory Festival is the place to be. If you can’t wait for winter, we’ve got some of the country’s best snow skiing, snowboarding and ice skating at Wisp Mountain. You can also book fly fishing and rafting tours in the spring, summer and fall. Deep Creek is truly a year-round destination.

What is your favorite area restaurant?

JG’s Pub is my casual favorite.  I also love Ace’s Run and Moonshadow for their menu variety.

If you could only choose one local attraction that is a must-see, what would it be?

Swallow Falls State Park, without a doubt. We’re blessed to be the home of the largest waterfall in the state of Maryland.

What are your top five favorite things to do in the Deep Creek area?

  1. Hiking at the state parks
  2. Golfing at one of the many courses in the area
  3. Shopping in downtown Oakland
  4. Listening to music at the outdoor concert venues at Wisp and Yough Music Festival each summer
  5. Breathing the fresh mountain air!

What is your background in the hospitality industry?

I’ve been in the hotel/vacation rental industry for more than 16 years. The majority of this time has been spent in the Deep Creek area.

What makes the Inn at Deep Creek different from nearby lodging?

Our mission is to help our guests create enjoyable, personalized vacation experiences. Our friendly local staff members really know about the surrounding activities and attractions. Our lobby and common areas are welcoming and are decorated to reflect the Deep Creek Lake area’s wonderful attributes. In addition, we enjoy a prime, central location that puts guests close to everything they want to see and do here at Deep Creek Lake.

What’s your favorite thing to do in your down time?

Currently I am redecorating my new house.  I also enjoy reading, golfing and simply chilling by the pool.

What’s your favorite food and where can you find it around here?

A nice steak dinner, a glass of Pinot Noir and a big salad.  Oh, and anything chocolate! Both Ace’s and Dutch’s at Silvertree offer all my favorites.
